Ajinkya Shinde is a 35 year-old political organiser from Maharashtra and the national organisation incharge of the Cockroach Janta Party.

He is a computer science graduate who previously worked in the IT sector before becoming involved in politics.

Shinde was associated with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), where he held organisational responsibilities, including work in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Goa and Maharashtra.

He has reportedly known Abhijeet Dipke since 2016 and joined the CJP's national leadership in August 2026.

His organisational experience and close association with Dipke are among the reasons he was selected to lead the movement during the detention of its senior leaders.

Following his appointment, Shinde urged supporters to continue their demonstrations despite restrictions imposed by Delhi Police.

The opposition, particularly the INDIA bloc led by Congress, is demanding several changes over the Election Commission’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and what it calls “vote chori.” The main demands include:

1. Resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar :- Opposition parties have repeatedly demanded his removal, alleging that the Election Commission has mishandled the voter-list revision. The Election Commission and BJP reject allegations of political bias or wrongdoing. Reuters
2. Use of the pre-SIR voter list for future elections :- The INDIA bloc has asked that the electoral roll existing before the SIR exercise be used, rather than relying on disputed revisions. The Indian Express
3. Full transparency in voter-list revisions :- The opposition wants constituency- and booth-level information about additions, deletions and corrections to electoral rolls to be made available. The Indian Express
4. Notice and appeal before deletion :- They want eligible voters to receive proper notice, reasons for deletion and an effective opportunity to appeal before their names are removed from the electoral roll. The Indian Express
5. Restoration of wrongly deleted voters :- Congress has specifically demanded restoration of names it says were removed during the SIR process, along with independent, time-bound investigations where serious discrepancies are found. Scroll.in
6. Greater scrutiny of the Election Commission's internal decisions :- Opposition leaders have also demanded disclosure of dissenting opinions reportedly recorded by other Election Commissioners regarding electoral-roll decisions. The Indian Express

There is also a separate political demand for returning to paper ballots instead of EVM-based voting, which the INDIA bloc included in its broader electoral-reform campaign.

The immediate dispute is primarily about voter-list revisions, transparency, deletion of names and accountability of the Election Commission, while the opposition has also expanded its demands to include the CEC's resignation and changes to the voting system. These are opposition demands and allegations; the Election Commission disputes claims that its actions are politically motivated.
